Back then it was a busy railroad YMCA. New Haven freight crews laid over here from Boston, Providence, Springfield, NYC, among other places.

In 1980, Amtrak used it as their New Haven General Offices. I had my second interview here prior to hiring on with the "Big A."

Detective Joe Davis (proud as ever mind you)  is truly one of Amtrak's finest. Here he is posing with an article that was written about him in the Boston Herald. He arrested two individuals who were planning to board a train with illegal arms.
