The Two Stanleys

Here is New Haven's pride and joy Conductor Stanley Bishop (left), hamming it up with the pride of #174 Conductor Stanley Benduzek.

Two characters who made the railroad the special place it always was.

I'll never forget sharing some "holiday cheer" with Stanley Bishop on a railroad Christmas Eve enroute to Boston on #176. That particular night I swore I saw Santa Claus a few times.

Sadly, both of these guys left us a mere few years after this photo was taken.

Who's this handsome devil?

A few of us were lucky enough to work some of the hi-speed test trains in the mid to late 1980's. One morning they ran a "CONEG" train for the press and some dignitaries including then Presidential Candidate Mike Dukakis.

Kevin worked the "LRC" version. I worked the "Talgo" version with Curtis. Was Kevin looking for any birds that day?

Here's another amazing work of art by New Haven Conductor Paul Beebe. Paul is a renowned artist. This painting depicts a DL109 led New Haven Railroad passenger train stopped at Old Saybrook Station.
