Baseball and Railroading.
On Friday, September 5, 2003, the
railroad and a local radio station sponsored a "Red Sox Legends" train to
New York City. About 70 fans and several of the Red Sox Legends traveled
aboard ACELA 2159 to attend the 3 game series between legendary rivals
Boston and New York.
It was quite an experience for the
entire crew and it ended up being a memorable trip for all of
us.....Something we were in dire need of after a summer from hell.

Red Sox Greats Luis Tiant (left) and Jim Rice on the right flank
Amtrak Legend L.C. "Larry" Owen. Larry was so excited I thought he was
going to have a nervous breakdown.

Future Hall of Famer Jim Rice hams it up with
Conductor Pat Edwards. Pat didn't even know who Jim Rice was but her
boyfriend was quite impressed when he found out she had met "Jim Ed."

Engineer Freddy Higgins with "Wally the Green
Monster." Does anyone see a slight resemblance here?

Everyone was invited to come up and meet Luis
Tiant and Jim Rice. It was a memorable experience for one and all to
get a chance to shake hands with these true legends of Baseball.
