Heading west on "The Hell Gate Line," Amtrak #2163 stops
close to Mile Post 14 after tangling with a vehicle.

Engineer Hayhurst went back to the vehicle to console the
driver. The driver was obviously a bit distraught by the whole ordeal.
Earlier, moments after the incident occurred, I went back to ask him if
everyone was okay. He started screaming bloody murder at me.
My reply..... "Chill out man.....I am only back here to see if you're okay."

Conductor Joe Hall, who was deadheading on Amtrak 2163,
jumped out of the train upon impact. Here he his requesting immediate
medical attention..........And a cell phone to call his lawyer.

The driver is still not a happy camper. He was pretty
mad.
